About “Spanish Batman Artists” comic art exhibition

“Spanish Batman Artists” was a collective comic art exhibition organized by Besarilia in collaboration with ECC Comics. It was part of the activity program for the first Batcon Madrid, a two-day event that was held on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Dark Knight.

A carefully selected collection of comic book covers, variants, double and interior pages made by 27 renowned and acclaimed artists from Spain such as José Luis García-López, Aneke, Jesús Merino, Carmen Carnero and Jorge Fornés, among many others, from 2005 to that date. With a dual format per display case, the exhibition showed alongside one another the original pencil/ink drawing and the final color printed version of each artwork.

“Spanish Batman Artists” took place on the bridges of Casa del Lector (Matadero Madrid) from November 9 2019 to February 23 2020, in the frame of the 11th edition of the alternative culture festival Sui Generis Madrid, dedicated then to the sacred and the profane.

2024 update: After the closing of the exhibition at Casa del Lector in February 23 2020, it became itinerant and is still moving nowadays among the local and regional libraries of Madrid.
